Croatia - 2018

You probably know this about us already but we love to travel. This year we had the opportunity to visit Croatia for 2 weeks with two great friends. We landed in Zagreb and rented a car to travel between our AirBnBs. Our car was nothing special but it just fit all our luggage and the 4 of us without being too big or too cramped. One thing to note about driving in Croatia is that there are quite a few tunnels through mountains and that the speed limit is posted at 110km/hr but the cruising speed is closer to 130km/hr to keep up with slow traffic and people are constantly passing at 150km/hr+. Croatia is a beautiful country and a highlight of our trip was spending a few nights on a hired sailboat. The water is so blue in Croatia and the islands are beautiful. If you have any questions about our travels or the photos leave a comment!

Portugal Vacation 2015

We are pretty darn pumped to share we have booked plane tickets to Portugal for July 1st to 14th! So far we have no other plans (literally not even a car rented... we should probably get on that), and so we wanted to do a call out to you, whoever might be reading this to share in your knowledge.

Any must see places? Epic swimming holes? Abandoned buildings? We will probably spend a few days in the major cities, but love to explore the countryside and experience some of the best that Portugal has to offer.

While it is our vacation time (a big props to our Brides & Grooms for not booking us for a couple weekends straight!), we're probably not going to be able to put down the cameras so if you want to collaborate with us, definitely get in touch! Honeymoon session anyone?

Here are some photos from our past travels, we can't wait to experience Portugal!

Salton Sea - a very strange place

The Salton Sea is proof than man<nature.  It's the story of an irrigation canal from the Colorado river overflowing and filling the old sea bed which is now mid-California desert. The new formed sea proved to be a fantastic place for water-skiing, sport fishing and developers started buying up land and building streets, hotels etc. Bombay Beach is one of those vacation towns and now it's a ghost-town. Why you ask? Well a few years back the Salton Sea started getting more saline and fish started dying off. The salty runoff from the agriculture fields continued filling the basin and water continues evaporating but the sea just sits there and gets more potent.  So potent that when you first step out of the car all you smell is rotting fish in the blazing heat. The way to the fish-lined beach is rows of trailers and small run-down houses, some lived in, some not. A lot of the people who live here bought land when it had value and now it's virtually worthless so they can't afford to move anywhere else, or they don't want to move, after all, this is their home.  I didn't take photos of the community but on the way to the beach there were some skeletons of old homes sunk halfway into the sand due to flooding. It's a very strange place. I suggest you look into it yourself. There's even a documentary on it.
