Spent the afternoon trying out some photos in the laundry room of our apartment of all places. It had some great diffused light and vintage/grunge charm.
Beginning of 2013!
For New Years this year we decided to go spend a night in Montreal with some close friends of ours. Highlights include trying Five Guys for the first time, and dashing out only 30 minutes before midnight to discover a free New Years bash on the street only 10 minutes from our hotel. While I typically do not - read never - use selective colouring, the second photo I decided to break my rule. Not sure why in this case - perhaps it gives it more of a vintage / 50's charm?
Star Trail
Middle of the night on Christmas morning (4 am - once the moon had set) I set out to do a long exposure in the field next to my parents’ place. Before I went out I had to prep my camera for Canadian winter - which in this case meant taping a disposable hand-warmer to the body near the battery to keep it from draining in the cold. Set it up in the snow, went back to bed and then went back to retrieve the camera four hours later. Came back to frosty tripod legs but no other harm done.
