Winter

Engagement!

And I'm not talking about an engagement session - I mean an actual proposal. This past weekend we had the insane pleasure of capturing a lovely couple get engaged. Kevin orchestrated an elaborate proposal with friends, cards and us hiding in the bushes to take photos of it all.

Tristan & Jami get hitched!

Remember these lovely folks? Well months later, November has come around and with that their wedding day! With the cool fall weather upon us we retreated into the belly of the whale.. oh sorry.. I mean museum (of nature, that is) for some post-nuptial photographs. Check out the photos below for some photographs using the museums beautiful and well-known architecture.

Plus some reception fun! Tristan, being an engineer, worked with us to create an awesome (and huge) photo booth for their reception. It was QUITE a hit! We've posted a full album of everyone's takes from the photo booth on Facebook (view them here).

First Snow - 5 Minute Portrait

Today it snowed for the first time this year in Ottawa. I had some gear in the back seat of my car so we pulled over onto a side street on our way to Pho (the best thing to have on a wintery day) . We were starving so we didn't want to take long. I quickly threw a flash onto a stand and put a bag over it to keep it dry using the elastic from Katriina's hair to keep the bag on. I set the flash up behind Katriina to light the snow and used a low aperture to get the snow to make the snow light up in little balls of out of focus light (Bokeh).
