San Francisco

Finally back to sharing the rest of our photos from our October west coast road trip. The next stop along our way was San Francisco. Our stay here was a little dampened by our van getting broken into (seriously friends - do you research and don't stay in sketchy neighbourhoods!),  but getting out and seeing the redwoods, the ocean and the cool San Fran fog did at least help to make it all seem worthwhile.

Crater Lake

On our way down through Oregon, we spent a day exploring Crater Lake. Once a volcano, it has since collapsed and resulted in a very clear, deep and blue lake. Drove around the top, hiked to the bottom, and went cliff diving into the cold lake. Amazing sunsets afterwards as we drove into California for the night.

These trees have the most fluorescent moss

Watching the sunset over the hills with friends is the perfect way to end a great day.

Portland

Our first impression of Portland is that it is pretty weird. This opinion is based solely on the downtown area on a weekend. There are a lot of interesting characters wasting their afternoons away on a Sunday downtown. The industrial part of town was much nicer in my opinion. Many colourful walls and excellent branding is everywhere.

Portland did, however, do an excellent job at leaving full grown trees left to grow in their downtown business district.
