Mid-Day Portraits with Athena

Most photographers will agree that the best time to take photos is either in the early morning or in the evening when the sun is low. Taking mid day photos in the sun can be difficult because the sun starts to cast unflattering shadows under the eyes and chin giving a 'raccoon' look. We don't  always get to take photos during the best time of the day but we work around it. Check out these photos of our friend Athena. We made use of a few different shady spots and looked for locations where the sun was hitting the subject slightly from behind.

Another family session

While we love weddings, it's hard not to love a family session when it involves such cute kids!  One of the girls kept giving the biggest pout face and/or stink eye towards the camera for the first half of the session, and then given a chance to run about and play her mood completely changed (see below - gleefully squishing daddy).

The McAfee Family

We love our clients!

The following blog is all about the McAfee family session that we photographed a couple weeks back. Not only were they just such a nice family, but when we showed up in Rideau Ferry to take photos they had already staged this super cute set-up in the middle of a field, AND had bought adorably coordinating clothing for all the young ones.

Take a gander at some of the photos. More can also be found in the portraits section of our website.

While it is not easy trying to get six young kids to all sit, behave and smile for the camera, we actually love some of the more candid pictures. From our own experiences, some of the best photos from our childhood are the ones of kids just being kids. The funny (or pout-y) faces just give more of a glimpse as to what they were like at that age.
