Pt. III - Bridal Sessions in Historic Portugal

Pt. III of our posts about our dress series in Portugal.

Marco de Canaveses - North of the famous Douro Valley, a 17th century home passed down through the families, this location was actually the site of one of our bed and breakfasts and would be the most wonderful location for an intimate destination wedding.

Dress: Arroh & Bow Infinity Dresses - The Handmade Bride
Venue: Casa Do Outeiro Tuias (We really cannot recommend this place more! We only stayed here one night but everything was SO magical, and the hosts were so incredibly welcoming. Please book a destination wedding here and bring us along so we have an excuse to go back!)

Bridal Sessions in Historic Portugal - Pt. I Monsanto

On our own personal roadtrip throughout Portugal this summer, we decided to work on a little project of our own. Portugal has so many varying features from true medieval castles and towns (that continue to seem barely touched by tourism), oceans, beaches and stunning European cities which would all be the perfect setting for a wedding. All of these photos featured simply a dress and a floral crown packed away in our luggage. What we wanted to showcase in these photos was not just all of the typical bridal details, but showing simplicity and nature. Since we were often out in the middle of rural Portugal, with no hairdresser, makeup artist or fresh florist nearby, we wanted these photos to represent the back-to-basics idea of a bride.

Special note/Review: If you are looking for a destination wedding dress or even if you aren't travelling with your dress but you want to be seriously comfy, I really recommend this infinity dress! While Jon was completely useless with helping me tie the dress, we still managed to style it a number of different ways. It's the perfect texture to be soft and flowy, but still quite heavy so you feel that it is substantial (and NOT see-through!). Also, you should probably go visit the girls at The Handmade Bride cause they are SUPER nice and totally just lent us this dress and crown to use instead of us buying some lame-oh maxi dress.

Floral Crown: Jewel Feathers - also sold at The Handmade Bride

**We realized we had more photos than one single blog post deserved, so here is simply the first of five of the locations we visited with the dress.

Monsanto - located in the rural East, this is a medieval town and castle built on a mountain which has been voted Most Portugese town.

Stayed tuned over the next couple of days as well still have 4 more beautiful locations from Portugal to share!

Horseshoe Bend & Zion National Park

We're super eager to share with you some photos of our Portugal trip... except that we realized we never ending up sharing any photos from our last day of our US road trip in the fall. It's a bit silly cause Zion and our hike up Angel's Landing was actually probably one of our favourite places so it's definitely worthy of being shared. I never knew Utah was so amazing beforehand - and I would definitely go back in a heartbeat!

(If you haven't already seen the rest of our photos from this vacation- just type in "Roadtrip"  in the search bar on the right!)
