Wintery Engagement Session by the River

If you are ever wondering what to do as engagement photos in the middle of winter here it is:

  1. Wait for a mild winter day that just experienced a fresh snowfall overnight.

  2. Go for a walk

  3. Build a snowman and get soaked

Okay now that you have the formula enjoy this session walking through fresh snow in evergreen forests right in Ottawa along the Jock river in Barrhaven. The conditions were perfect (and so were Maddie and Sam). We often get some serious FOMO when we get days like this where we are blessed with a blanket of sticky snow, but aren’t able to photograph it. The way the snow sticks to branches creates a stunning contrast in the scenery around. Fresh snow also brings a certain kind of quiet as you walk in the wood with the occasional sound of snow slipping off of the branches and getting us coated.

End of 2020!

I think that everyone can agree that 2020 was a unique kind of year. Many of us went through hard times, be it emotionally, mentally, financially or physically. But no year passes without any good. While we had a lot of our weddings get postponed into 2021, we are so grateful for the weddings and families we were able to celebrate with this year. Of course things looked a little different but being able to witness love and commitments, seeing our previous couples growing their families, being there for our own families, finding the benefits in working from home and have more down-time, all of these things brought joy to us in 2020. We are choosing to dwell and remember these things from the past year, and we encourage you to flip through the photos on your own phones or write down a list of the good memories you had too.
